In 2011, Kevin and Alex co-taught a highly successful summer camp in Serbia that established their passion to co-teach a similar camp in North America. Alex was the head instructor for the Toronto school of Ryabko Systema for Vladimir Vasiliev for 6 years. A driving force in the early years of that club, he was one of the first and primary teachers of many of the senior proponents of that style today. While widely esteemed on the seminar circuit in Europe and Australia, his schedule permits very little travel to North America. This is an extremely rare opportunity to train with him and the first week-long camp he has ever taught in North Americ Training times are specifically designed to provide students with the majority of their evenings free to explore the city. Montreal is a globally renown tourist destination. During last year's camp we learned first hand that it was better to invest in intense training periods during the daytime and to limit the amount of evening sessions in order to rest, recuperate and absorb the lessons of the day, so based on that experience we will be leaving 3 of the nights free this year. July is one of the most beautiful months to visit Montreal, with sunshine and heat, world class dining, festivals and a city bustling with culture, nightlife, and old world charm.

We are proud to announce the return of Serbian martial arts expert Alex Kostic to Montreal. Alex's last seminar was in 2006 and was without a doubt, the largest eye-opener ever hosted by the Montreal Systema Academy in a history of over 30 seminars. Openly touted as one of the driving influences in Kevin's own work, Alex is a pioneer and innovator in the Slavic martial arts. His art, Homo Ludens, The Playing Man, is a comprehenisve fusion of various Slavic fighting systems, which integrates key aspects from Kadochnikov Systema, various fistfighting systems and a greater energy of play and exploration. Founded on the concept that combat has three ranges/timings, training is subdivided into various intensities, including an unmatched sequence from soft work to fully resistant and dynamic pressure testing. Alex is internationally renown for his treatment of multiple attackers, fist fighting, kicking and breaking structure and will be providing a challenging and thought-provoking sequence of lessons on empty handed combat. Above all, Alex is a profound thinker and a deeply philosophical individual who is passionately driven by the honest and open exploration of movement and its relationship to psychology.
Alex and Kevin will be co-teaching all five days, each present and assisting one another in an open and scientific exchange of ideas and concepts to better guide students towards personal freedom. In addition, special guest instructor Mike Malpass of Combat Systema Phoenix will be providing two very special evening sessions. Mike is the owner of Combative Resolutions . He has been a police officer for 19 years, and is currently assigned to the Phoenix S.W.A.T. special assignments unit. He is a five-time national heavyweight kickboxing champion with over 24 years of experience in the martial arts, including intensive training in catch wrestling and defensive tactics. Mike is a progressive, pragmatic, pressure-tested real-world warrior. He will be leading two special evening sessions on Solo and Team Restraint Tactics and Home Security. This is a rare, must-do opportunity to learn cutting edge, battle- proven and street-ready tactics from a man on the frontline.

a. The addition of Mike Malpass as a special guest instructor, tips the scales even further. Kevin and Mike have been working together to refine the Combat Systema restraint tactics module for active use in law enforcement. Mike's contributions have been enormous. This will be the first time he has ever taught in Montreal.
The goal of this camp is to provide unparalleled personalized attention, therefore the group size will be limited to ensure the highest level of direct attention, evaluation and growth. The training will be held at The Montreal Systema Academy, the head quarters of the ICSA nestled in the heart of downtown Montreal. This fully matted and professional training environment, that is completely equipped to meet all of your personal safety and training needs.
